General FAQs

The following questions and answers apply for both Revo Uninstaller and Revo Registry Cleaner!

The Freeware and Pro versions (of both Revo Uninstaller and Revo Registry Cleaner) are installed in different folders and are completely independent. They do not share common components or modules. So, it is not a problem if you install the Pro version while the Freeware is still on your system. However, the Pro version is superior, so you will not need the Freeware version afterward.

Our support team will contact you within 24 hours of receiving your message. Response time is usually between a few minutes and several hours, depending on the support team's load!

If you still haven't received a reply within 24 hours, please first check your spam folder and if there is no reply from us send your query again and check that your email address is correctly written.

When your subscription expires, your license will remain active and usable, but only with versions released before the expiration date. You can use all versions released up until the expiration date of your license for as long as you like.

If you wish to use the latest version of Revo Uninstaller Pro or Revo Registry Cleaner Pro, you need to renew your license (and receive a new serial number). Significant discounts will be applied to your renewal price.

You can download a specific version at any time from the release history page of Revo Uninstaller Pro — here or Revo Registry Cleaner Pro - here.

Simply click the desired version number to download it.

We accept order cancellations and refunds requests for any reason within 60 days from the date of purchase. Licensing & Registration FAQ

The following questions and answers apply for both Revo Uninstaller and Revo Registry Cleaner!

The licenses for our products are purchased for an active subscription for 1 or 2 years and are eligible for free updates and technical support. Once the subscription period expires, each program remains usable with previously released versions.

If you wish to update to a newer version, you need to renew (i.e., purchase a new subscription license, though at a significant discount) and apply its Serial number to the particular copy of the program. This is called the Update Subscription option.

Alternatively, you can continue using your already purchased version without time limitations.

You choose the number or PC's during purchase.

Licensing is per computer, so buying a license for one computer allows you to register the program on only one computer. If you want to buy a license for 3 or more computers, or if you are already our customer, you can buy additional licenses at a discount.

You need a license for only one computer, as all your Windows installations are on the same computer. You should not have problems registering the program on any of the supported versions of Windows.

Yes, you have the option to deactivate your license. To do that:

  1. click the Menu button (in the upper right corner)
  2. select Deactivate License
  3. then confirm by clicking Deactivate

This will allow you to activate using the same serial number on a different computer.

If you need a more in-depth tutorial, you can find it at here.

If you do not have access to the computer on which you wish to deactivate your license, please contact us via support@revouninstaller.com for further assistance.

Note
Please keep in mind that deactivating your license for Revo Uninstaller Pro is only possible after version 5.

Open your activated program, navigate to the Main button -> Update subscription. Enter your newly provided serial number to extend your subscription.

Refer to How to update license subscription in Revo Uninstaller Pro for assistance.

Open your program, and click the Menu button -> About. The About window will display both the expiration date and the remaining days of your active subscription.

There is an auto-renewal option, but you can opt out of it during purchase. Check if it is enabled in the confirmation email containing your license details. If you have activated the Annual Update Subscription option, you will receive a reminder 7 days before the automatic charge for the updated subscription license.

A new serial number was generated and sent to you after the renewal was completed. To renew your subscription, you have to use it in the Update Subscription option in the program.

If you need more details about the steps, you can find them here.

No. They are different names for the same thing. Any newly purchased license can be used to activate Revo Uninstaller Pro 5 or Revo Registry Cleaner on a new/additional computer or to update/extend the subscription period of a previously activated copy of the product.

Note
A license's subscription period starts at the moment of purchase, not when it is first used.

Yes. Since all licenses are completely independent of each other, you can purchase a new license (renewal) for as many computers as you want. Previous purchases do not limit new purchases in terms of the license type, quantity, and subscription period.

If there is a problem with the registration, and you see that message, it should be followed by a sentence stating the reason for the problem or an error code. Contact our Support Team with that information, and we will assist you in solving the problem.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but you will have to contact our support team to reset your activation on the server. We prioritize these requests, so it usually takes only a few minutes to a few hours — and always less than 24 hours.

Yes, you can extend your subscription at any time. Once you receive the new Serial number, you can apply it via the Update subscription option. This will extend your current subscription for the particular installation of Revo Uninstaller Pro / Revo Registry Cleaner with the additional subscription period.

We recommend purchasing a new subscription license as close to the expiration date of the previously purchased one as possible.

Uninstall Module

Before attempting to uninstall a program, make sure it is not running and is closed.

Select the program in Revo Uninstaller Pro, and click the Uninstall button. Revo Uninstaller Pro will start the uninstall wizard, which will guide you through the process.

Revo Uninstaller Pro will try to run the built-in uninstaller of the program you want to uninstall; let it finish. If it is not working properly, you can skip (ignore) it. Then you should proceed to the leftover scan by clicking "Scan". After the scanning finishes, Revo Uninstaller Pro will list all leftover Registry entries, files, and folders for you to review, verify, and delete.

If you have monitored an installation with Revo Uninstaller Pro, the best approach for removing it is to use the created trace log. To access that, open the Traced Programs module.

Before uninstalling a program, make sure it is not running. Check the system tray (in the Taskbar, near the clock) for any icons belonging to the program you want to uninstall. If any of those icons are there, try right-clicking them, and look for an option like "Exit", "Quit" or something similar.

Select the program in Revo Uninstaller Pro and click the Uninstall button. A window will display, showing the progress of the operation, and when that window closes, the program will be uninstalled.

If an additional window called "Advanced Uninstall" is displayed, you can use the same suggested method to scan, review, and remove any leftovers you find.

Uninstalling a program using a log from the Logs Database is done the same way as uninstalling the program using your own log. Just select the program in the Logs Database list and click the Uninstall button. This will automatically download the selected log, import it into Revo Uninstaller Pro, and start the uninstallation procedure.

Reinstalling the program is the best and easiest solution using a setup file or installation media.

By default, Revo Uninstaller Pro moves all leftover files to the Recycle Bin when you delete them, so check there for accidentally deleted files. Also, by default, Revo Uninstaller Pro backs up every deleted leftover Registry item, so check the Backup Manager for any backups of deleted Registry entries you want to restore.

Revo Uninstaller Pro has a unique feature called "Hunter Mode":

  1. Switch to "Hunter Mode" — a blue window with a crosshair will appear in the screen's upper right corner.
  2. Drag (holding the left mouse button) the blue target window to the system tray, and locate the program you wish to remove.
  3. Drop (releasing the left mouse button) on the target, and a menu will appear.

Then you can select "Kill Process", and it will disappear from the system tray. There are other options you may want to use such as: Uninstall, Stop Auto Starting, Properties, Open Containing Folder, etc.

You cannot uninstall programs if you do not have administrator privileges because uninstalling programs involves removing files, folders, and Registry entries from various protected system locations on your hard drive and Registry. The standard user account is designed only to have privileges to run/use most programs.

Most likely, this error message is generated by the program's built-in uninstaller due to its being corrupted or not properly working.

In most cases, Revo Uninstaller Pro can handle the uninstallation process even if the built-in program uninstaller is not functioning properly. For that, start the uninstallation procedure with Revo Uninstaller as usual, and when you see that error message, simply skip (ignore) it, click the Scan button to start scanning for the program's leftovers and continue to review and delete any leftover data you find.

If the program is not listed in Revo Uninstaller Pro, you can use our Forced Uninstall feature, which does not require a program to be installed or listed properly. Start the Forced Uninstall feature, enter the program’s exact name, and/or point to its folder on the hard drive, and proceed with the uninstall procedure.

If any updates are listed in Revo Uninstaller Pro, you should be able to uninstall them without issue. However, their installation and removal may be critical for the operating system, and they should be handled only by the built-in functionality in Windows.

You can use our Forced Uninstall feature, which does not require a program to be installed or listed properly. Start the Forced Uninstall feature, enter the program's exact name and/or point to its folder on the hard drive, and proceed with the uninstall procedure.

Cancel the built-in program uninstaller and the uninstall wizard of Revo Uninstaller Pro. Then, in the list of installed programs, right-click the program in question and select the Forced MSI Uninstall command, which will start the uninstall procedure again — but the built-in uninstaller will try to uninstall the program instead of repairing it.

Logs Database Module

The Logs Database is a set of pre-created trace logs by our agents, accessible via Revo Uninstaller Pro, including popular or requested software products.

It is created and maintained by the Revo Uninstaller Pro’s team. The logs are stored on our web server, and you can use them to uninstall programs or to remove leftovers of previously uninstalled programs.

Uninstalling a program using a log from the Logs Database is the same as using your own log. Just select the program in the Logs Database list and click the Uninstall button. This will automatically download the selected log, import it into Revo Uninstaller Pro, and start the uninstallation procedure.

It depends on the program and how much it has changed across different versions. In most cases, you should be able to properly uninstall a program with a version similar to the one on the log.

For example, if you have Skype 5.2 installed on your computer, you should be able to uninstall it properly, even using a log for Skype 5.1. That is because the "Advanced Uninstall" technology applies when a traced program is uninstalled through a log. It searches for data related to the uninstalled program that may not have been recorded in the log.

Tools Module

Click the Menu button -> Options -> Junk Files Cleaner -> General, and check if the specific file type is in the list and if it is checked. If the file extension is not listed, click the Add button, enter the specific file type in the newly appeared window, and click OK to confirm. Start the Junk Files Cleaner, and click the Scan button to start scanning.

In the Autorun Manager, uncheck the program you want to disable. Conversely, to enable it, simply check it back again.

Revo Registry Cleaner

You can choose the Quick Clean option which will automatically scan, clean, and remove any found faulty Registry entries.

In order to manually clean your Registry, choose a preferred scanning method (Safe, Moderate, Advanced). Revo Registry Cleaner will scan your system and provide you with results once the scan is completed. After the scanning finishes, Revo Registry Cleaner will list all found Registry entries for you to review, verify, and delete.

Any deleted Registry data is backed up in the Backup Center, but you can also make a Full Registry Backup and System Restore Point before starting the cleaning process, which is what we highly advise.

You can use the Auto Clean feature for automatic cleaning of your Registry in time periods of your choice. It allows you to customize the type of Registry scan, the Registry categories to be scanned, and the scanning frequency (time and date).

The Custom Scan allows you to choose the Registry category/ies you want to scan for invalid Registry items. This way you can include or exclude any categories by your preference and target the specific Registry types you need.

Our advanced algorithms target only invalid and unnecessary Registry entries while critical Registry items related to system processes and files are systematically excluded from the scanning process as a security precaution measure

Safety is our priority and any deleted data is automatically backed up so you can easily recover it with our Backup Center.

The Registry Tuner enables you to adjust various aspects of your Windows environment: from enhancing performance to optimizing system behavior. Our Registry Tuner gives you the option to personalize your computer's behavior to match your unique requirements.

The Registry Watcher monitors specified Registry keys in real-time, instantly identifying processes responsible for system modifications.

The Backup center holds the backups of automatically deleted data during the cleaning processes.

You can create personalized backups for specific keys, perform full Registry backups, or automate scheduled backups to ensure additional safety of your critical data.

You can restore your Backups at any time.
